International Webinar:

Department of Sociology, Psychology and IQAC jointly organized an international level webinar on “Covid-19: Psycho-Socio Impact on Society” on dated Tuesday, 15th June 2021. On this occasion, Prof. Ramesh Makwana was the inaugurator and keynote speaker who introduced his valuable thoughts on the title of the webinar. In the next session, Dr. SachinNanavati was the first resource person and he expressed his thoughts and own experiences on the topic of “Covidayan: Experience in Britain.” In the last session, Dr. Shirish Shitole was the second resource person and he introduced his views on “Covid-19: Psychological impact on society.”

National Webinar:

The Department of Sociology organized a national webinaron 18th October 2020.The title of the webinar was "Impact of Covid-19 on Social Relationship". Keeping in view the crisis of the Covid-19 pandemic. Dr. Diwakar Singh Rajput was the keynote speakerfor this program. He has pointed out the difference between social distancing and physical distancing. He has given addressed the people to fight with covid-19. The other resource person Dr. Satish Desai expressed his valuable thoughts on the impact of Covid-19 on rural society. Rural society people faced many problems during the pandemic period. He also focused on the most important things which was the family relationships in rural society.

National Seminar:

The Department of Sociology organized a National Seminar on 23rd January 2014, in collaborationwith the Department of Marathi and Psychology. The national seminar theme was "Tribal Society: Literature, Society and Psychographic Relationship". Mrs. Maheshwari Gavitwas the keynote speaker for that program. She has expressed her valuable thoughts on tribal society. Mr. Vaharu Sonawane expressed his own experience in tribal society, and another resource person Dr. Jagan Karade focused on theoretical approaches in tribal society.

Innovative programs:

1) The Department of Sociology has organized a one-act play, titled "I am talking with Shahu Maharaj" The objective of this program is to understand studentswhat is the contribution of Shahu Maharaj in society regarding social change and development of rural society.

2) The department of sociology organized a Study visit in order to make the students aware of the social problems of community. The students prepare the questionnaire and survey with points such as social economic, political and educational status of the Gopal community of Talasade village. The students find out the Gopal community’s problems and suggested suggestions.

Study Visit:

The department of sociology organized a Study visit in order to make the students aware of the rural development. The students prepare the questionnaire and survey with points such as policies, facility of government, system of Pachyatraj in order torural development The students also did interaction with the Sarpanch of Talasande village regarding rural development.

2) The department of Sociology has visited Seema Biotech industry. The production Manager Dr, Madhukar has given the information about Biotech. All the faculty members and students of the department of sociology were presented.

3. A Study Visit To Gokul Dudh Sangh, Kolhapur.

The department of sociology has organized a one-day study visit to Gokul Dudh Sangh, Kolhapur on dated 18th December 2018. Shri Prashant Patil (MIS) management information system officer has given details information about Gokul Dudh Sangh and also he focused on the role of Gokul Dudh Sangh in rural development, Department of sociology has visited Kaneri Matth as a fieldwork study regarding the collection of information of really rural life and occupations of rural people on dated 18th December 2018. All the faculty members and students of the department of sociology were presented.

2) Industrial Visit:

The department of sociology has organized a one-day study visit to Sound Crafting, Geeta Pumps Pvt. Ltd MIDC, Gokul Shirgon, Kolhapur. The main objective of industrial visit is sociological study of industrial worker. The students prepare the questionnaire and survey with points such as social, economic, political and educational status and also the problems of industrial worker.

Department of sociology has presented Samajswand wallpaper in every year. The posters wereprepared by the students on the various theme such as social problems, social structure and social change, gender equity, Environmental issues etc.

Guest Lectures:

The department of sociology organized a guest lecture on the topic "Changing Nature of Rural Society" Dr. Madhukar Dhuture was the chief guest of this program.He expressed his valuable thoughts on changing nature of rural society. He also touched on the main themes such as family, marriage, religion, caste and the education system that has changed due to modernism.

The Social Commitment of the Department:

The department of sociology contributes the social commitment in society. The social commitment program was held on Independence Day and Republic Day every year. The students of the department visited the needy people and distribute jalebi to the theme as the social duty of students. They also visited the staff of the forest department and celebrated the special day with the sweats.
